Orange is an important color in our lives. I have always enjoyed its brightness and vibrance. It makes me think happy thoughts. But it was not until I started to attend college that it really took on a personal meaning. I studied Psychology. In Portugal, at least, orange is the color of psychology majors. It became my color too. I met my husband, also a psychology major, in college. For our wedding, we had an orange/white/silver color scheme, of course.

So far, orange was part of my major milestones: college and marriage. But when I found out I was pregnant with my first child and she was due in October, it gain an even bigger significance. I was having a little Fall pumpkin!

Now, orange is a simple reminder of all the things I love the most! It makes me smile every time I look at it.

So, now that you know all about my orange craze, it’s easy to understand why I picked the color orange for my first Re-Play starter set! They have so many amazing colors, but this one, was mine!

replay recycled

Are you familiar with the Re-Play brand? Did you know all their products are made from recycled milk jugs? Re-Play is a family owned company that manufactures, assembles, and tests all their products in the USA. Their products strive for sustainability by using recycled products, safety by meeting all FDA requirements, functionality, durability, and affordability. All this, while being a company that is socially conscious, providing employees flexibility around their family and lives. Now, I would say that is pretty impressive and a model which other business owners should consider.

You can learn more about this wonderful company by checking out their website or one of their social-media accounts:

I first got curious about Re-Play products, after seeing it repeatedly show up on my Instagram feed. Furthermore, being frustrated with all the spills my learning toddler would make with conventional plates, I fell in love with the deep plate offered by this brand and decided I needed to try it! The first time we tried it, it was clear it allowed her to use her spoon and fork with more ease, while trying to gather her food, due to the deep sides of the dish. She can now enjoy eating without getting frustrated and I love that there is less mess! Their spoon and fork are sturdy and I fell in love with the snack container, that is now our favorite when packing up snacks for her diaper bag. We ordered a regular drinking cup, since we have been trying to transition to these vs the sippy cups. It’s a nice cup, but we are still learning how to use cups in general without spilling (most of the times, on purpose)! However, I have read many reviews saying wonders about their no-spill sippy cup!

I received this orange set at the beginning of Autumn, which made it so seasonly appropriate. Every time I cooked some delicious Fall flavors I would immediately pull out our orange set (we also have the pink set). There is just something about Fall and orange…

Here are some of the ways we have been using our Re-Play products with some of our favorite fall flavors.

apple cinnamon steel cut oatsBREAKFAST

Steel-Cut Oats with Apples, Raisins, and Cinnamon

This is such a healthy and flavorful way to start a chilly Autumn day. I always make 2 cups of oats and refrigerate the left-overs in mason jars so we can eat it up the rest of the week. We make our oats with 3 cups of water and 1 of almond milk for each cup of oats, so it has a more creamy texture. We also add some maple syrup to sweeten it up. And when re-heating, if you add a bit more of milk before microwaving it, it’s as delicious as the day it was cooked and hot off the oven.

butternut squash soup

Butternut Squash, Sweet Potato, and Zuchinni Soup

Soup is usually part of one or both of our main meals. At lunch, we might have soup, with a sandwich and some fruit. This easy puree is full of Fall flavors. It’s a very basic puree and my kiddo eats it all up. In one big pot add an onion, a garlic clove, a package of butternut squash already cut-up in squares, 1-2 sweet potatoes, 1 zucchini, and cover with water. We add some vegetable stock and salt for flavor, as well as olive-oil and parsley. Just boil, cook, and blend. I tend to put in less water, because my kiddo likes her soup thicker. And voilà! An easy way to make sure everyone is adding a good portion of vegetables into their day.

fruit toddlers Fresh Fruit

Seasonal fruits are always a wonderful snack. This Autumn my 2 year-old has been all about pears! She loves them! Mix them up with some red grapes cut-up vertically and you have yourself a nice mix and a bowl that is great as a snack, desert, or even an add-on to breakfast.

Roasted Chestnuts roasted chestnuts

Being from Portugal, one of the things I truly miss in the Fall is the smell of roasted chestnuts while walking down the streets and buying a newspaper cone filled-up with that deliciousness. This year, I decided I would buy some at the supermarket and roast them at home. It wasn’t 100% successful, but it was worth the work to get some good ones out of it. It was also great to expose my toddler to some of the flavors from my youth. She actually enjoyed this snack and asked for more when she saw them the next time we went to the supermarket!

Roasted Chicken and Seasonal Vegetables with Rice

fall toddler recipesTurning on the oven when the weather starts getting chillier is such a nice feeling. It warms up your house and the food warms up your belly. One of my favorite recipes for this time of year is roasted chicken or roasted pork tenderloins. We make it every week. We usually eat it with some rice on the side and seasonal roasted vegetables, which are so flavorful. Our favorite mix is: sweet potato, zucchini, carrots, and cherry tomatoes. There is just something so comforting about these fall flavors when roasted. Again, a toddler favorite. She’s never been a huge fan of meat, but she loves the roasted vegetables!

And that’s that! I hope you enjoyed some of my suggestions for your Fall menu!
